On the morning of December 6th, Nanjing Maritime Court organized an “Open Day” event. 60 faculty and students from the Law School of Nanjing University and the Law and Politics School of Nanjing Tech University immersed themselves in the trial site, feeling the dignity of the law from zero distance.
The case was a maritime insurance contract dispute. Under the guidance of the collegial bench, both the plaintiff and the defendant strictly followed the trial procedures for presenting evidence, cross-examining, and debating on the controversial issues such as whether the defendant insurance company should assume insurance liability and the determination of insurance compensation amount. Throughout the trial, the students strictly followed the courtroom discipline, concentrated on watching every step of the case trial, gaining a genuine appreciation for the practical application of the law in judicial practice.
Through close encounter with maritime cases, students have broadened their horizons, enhanced the understanding of legal practice, and the gap between the general public and Nanjing Maritime Court has been further bridged.
Next, Nanjing Maritime Court will continue to innovate the forms of legal education, improve the effectiveness of legal publicity, and regularly organize activities such as “Open Day” and “Court Hearing Observation” to increase the social supply of maritime judicial services, enhance the influence of Nanjing Maritime Court, and promote the continuous development in the construction of modern specialized courts.
