The Institute of Marine Development Strategy of Ministry of Natural Resources conducted a Research on marine rule of law construction in Jiangsu Province

On July 29, Xu Heyun, Deputy Director of the institute of marine development strategy of ministry of natural resources, led a research team to Nanjing to conduct a thematic research on issues involving marine rule of law construction in Jiangsu. Li Yuming, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and President of Nanjing Maritime Court, and Li Yalin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, among others, attended the research symposium.

During the symposium, the research team watched a documentary on Jiangsu’s maritime adjudication work and gained an understanding of the Jiangsu’s efforts in this regard. Participants held discussions on issues including the current situation regarding China’s maritime rights and interests, judicial procedures for cases involving natural resources and ecological environment, the application of international conventions in foreign-related cases, and the role of maritime justice in safeguarding maritime rights.

The research team emphasized that maritime justice plays a vital role in safeguarding national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. Since its establishment, Nanjing Maritime Court has fully leveraged its expertise in adjudication, actively fulfilled its responsibilities and missions to protect national maritime rights, supported the development of marine economy, and protected marine ecological environment through judicial practice. Moving forward, it is hoped that both sides will take this research visit as an opportunity to enhance communication and collaboration, contributing their expertise and strength to the advancement of China’s marine rule of law.
